Remember

"Remember" is a performance conceived for video that explores the body as a container of emotional memories. It is not about forgetting but rather about unraveling emotional information stored in the body. Inspired by the ancient tradition of using knots as mnemonic devices, the action of tying and untying a heavy rope becomes a physical representation of memory embodied in the female body.

The work questions the relationship between memory and virtue through the ambivalent image of a woman dressed in white, seated in a posture conventionally considered "appropriate," yet wearing a skirt that partially reveals her legs. Her slow, delicate movements, combined with the clean, minimalist aesthetic, sharply contrast with the heavy, dirty, and tangled texture of the rope. This visual and symbolic contrast challenges traditional notions of purity and virtue culturally attributed to the female body.

The performance is accompanied by "Canto de Ordeño," a traditional milking Venezuelan song performed by renowned artist Simón Díaz, whose melody highlights the cultural and emotional connections within the piece.
